The launch of a new global credit group headquartered in London represents a strategic evolution of the private credit market and reinforces Stara’s role in backing world-class investment platforms.
Stara is pleased to announce our support for Corinthia Global Management, a newly established global private credit platform with operations across the UK, Europe and North America.
Corinthia has been co-founded by Stara Managing Director and former CEO of Cromwell Property Group Paul Weightman, together with experienced private finance specialists Ian Fowler and Adam Wheeler, previously of Barings’ Global Private Finance Group.
It will specialise in connecting investors and borrowers to create mutually beneficial partnerships that will drive growth and financial success.
Corinthia operates under a tech-enabled investment model, designed to improve sourcing, due diligence and portfolio oversight. The firm is also structured to meet the transparency and compliance expectations of institutional investors, while maintaining agility to capture niche, high-performing opportunities.
For Stara, the launch of Corinthia builds on our strategy of incubating specialist investment platforms that address structural trends and unmet capital needs. Through strategic involvement and operational guidance, Stara will play a key role in the platform’s development.
Paul Weightman, who also serves as Executive Chairman of Corinthia Global Management, said the platform reflected a new chapter in private credit investing.
“Our aim is to reshape how investors and borrowers access private credit, combining deep investment expertise with technology-driven insights, strong governance and a high level of transparency,” he said.
“Corinthia is built for scale, for speed, and for the level of selectivity required in today’s credit markets.
“At Stara, we look to partner with talented managers building the next generation of real asset and alternative investment platforms. Corinthia is exactly the kind of opportunity we look for – globally relevant with a very experienced team and a disciplined approach to portfolio construction.”
Prior to joining Corinthia, Ian Fowler was a member of Barings’ North American, European and Asia-Pacific Private Finance Investment Committees, and President of Barings BDC, Inc. (NYSE: BBDC). He has a proven track record of building businesses and portfolios in the middle market asset class, with experience investing over $40 billion in senior, unitranche, second lien, mezzanine and equity investments in more than 1,000 platforms since 1998.
Adam Wheeler was also a member of Barings’ North American, European and Asia-Pacific Private Finance Investment Committees and has 30 years’ industry experience in middle market and mezzanine investing. Prior to his time at Barings, he worked for AMP Capital Investors as the head of the Australian and New Zealand Private Debt business, where he was responsible for managing a team that originated, arranged and invested in mezzanine and related private debt financings.
